Snow Climbing Introduction, 1-Day

The fundamentals of snow climbing and travel are taught from the ground up.  This training takes place in the alpine terrain above 11,500′ in the Glen Cove cirque on Pikes Peak.  With a short approach and an abundance of snow routes and terrain available to us, we will focus on traveling on snow safely and efficiently.  Climbers new to mountaineering or hikers seeking to expand 14er season beyond the summer will learn the basics of safe snow travel.  Because this course is scheduled for the winter and early spring, we will avoid avalanche terrain.  If you are looking for travel in steep terrain on more challenging snow, please check out our one day Couloir Climbing course.
